Grains have been bringing nourishment to people across the globe for centuries and this is largely due to their stewardship by Indigenous peoples. In fact, most of the grasses and perennials that produce grains or pseudo-grains come from regions within Asia, Africa, and the Americas. From the widely familiar wheat, corn, and rice to grains that European colonization has tried, and thankfully failed, to erase such as amaranth, quinoa, sorghum, and fonio.

For the Love of Grains: A Guide to the Foodways of Sorghum & Rice is a 35+ page 8.5x11" inch spiral bound book honoring the legacies and migrations of two incredible grain-producing plants: Rice and Sorghum. It goes over their global origins and botany alongside tips for growing and processing them, as well as recipes.

Written, Compiled, and Photographed by Maya Marie S.
